A woman is searching for the owner of a bright green budgie found on Wednesday outside the Shacklewell Arms.
Ismini Sigala, 36, said that the bird was in a “poorly condition” with “mites on his beak and legs” when she came across him outside the pub in Shacklewell.
“He was puffed up and shaking,” the local freelancer told The Hackney Post, describing how he had caught her attention when a couple stopped in front of her while she was on her way to a meeting.
“The couple had to go so it was down to me to save the little fellow.”
Immediately calling the RSPCA, Ms Sigala was advised to put the budgie in a box and take him home. She is now keeping him in makeshift cage made of crates from the market while attempting to find the owner.
“I have contacted Budgerigar London and Southeast Society. They are trying to locate the owner, but I have not heard back,” she said.
In the meantime, Ms Sigala has been seeking the advice of talkbudiges.com for taking care of him properly.
“I’m really keen to find his owner as I ‘m not sure if I will be able to keep him,” she added.
If you have any information, you can contact Ms Sigala via the UK National Missing Pet Register.
